CFD
 VRcontext is fully committed to supporting the oil and gas industry and has, therefore, linked its product with that of a major computational fluid dynamics (CFD) software developer.
The resultant CFD application—through its regular Cartesian grid and its porosity and distributed resistance concept—is very well suited to address macro CFD studies in large oil and gas assets.
The VRcontext CFD module post-processes and visualizes simulation results that were previously computed by a simulation application such as FLACS ® ( GexCon). The main application thus far has been in the area of visualization of gas and smoke propagation embedded in the complete model of the asset.
By creating a library of pattern propagations for different wind orientations and for a subset of critical equipment, the location of an incident can be identified rapidly based on sensor input.
VRcontext has also developed a separate real-time visualization module for gas and fumes based on smoothed particle hydrodynamics (SPH), a particle-based methodology in which gas and fumes are represented as a collection of particles. This approach, which is quite popular in the game industry, provides qualitative results that areoften sufficient for running emergency escape simulations and training.
